StART Studio in-person workshops: Health and Safety information
Please read the following information carefully. It is important that everyone attending a workshop respects all Health and Safety regulations, The Handmade Florist's and StART Studio's staff, and other local residents.
Main points:
- StART Studio and The Handmade Florist cannot be held responsible for any injuries caused through the misuse of the studio or equipment.
- StART Studio and The Handmade Florist will not be held responsible for any illnesses or infections. You are responsible for your own personal hygiene.
- Classes are for over 18s only.
- Please familiarise yourself with StART Studio's evacuation procedure. The fire assembly point is at the Baptist Church car park if exiting the rear of the building, or the Market Cross if exiting the front of the building.
- If you are unsure of anything regarding health and safety, please ask your teacher or a member of staff at the beginning of the course or via email before the start date.
- StART Studio and The Handmade Florist are not responsible for any damage caused to work and are not responsible for any work or personal belongings going missing. Please keep your belongings with you at all times.
- All participants will undergo a brief Health and Safety induction before they begin the first workshop.
- Each course participant must comply with all health and safety instructions given by staff at all times.
- Smoking/vaping is forbidden in the building. Designated areas are available outside for smoking or vaping.
- If unsure of equipment, materials or procedures, please check with the workshop leader.
- StART Studio/The Handmade Florist reserves the right to suspend or cancel any person from the series if any of the above points are not respected.
Please note: If you have a disability, you should make the studio manager aware of this before the start of the course or when you arrive at the studio so that appropriate adjustments can be made in the interest of your safety, and that you are aware of the procedure that we will follow in the event of a fire.
The studio environment
Participants will use the studio at their own risk with awareness of the inherent hazards of a studio environment, including but not limited to the use of sharp tools, sharp edges, electrical equipment, the dangers of using materials and equipment at high temperatures. Please note that we will be using wool-blend felt, which may not be suitable for those with a wool allergy.
