It has been tough not being able to see friends and family so much this year. Today's #SixDaysOfFeltScraps make is a sweet way to send special notes to loved ones near and far, with a promise of good times to come.
Short on felt scraps? I have a special offer running on my 100gm felt scraps project boxes at the moment - click here for details.
Mini Peg Hoop
TOOLS AND MATERIALS:
- Embroidery hoop (I used a 5 inch hoop)
- Felt scraps in various colours
- String/twine (a piece for making the note line and another for hanging the hoop)
- Mini pegs
- Glue gun
TO MAKE YOUR PEG HOOP:
Start by cutting out circles of felt from your chosen colours. You'll need enough that when overlapped they form a layer about an inch wider than your embroidery hoop inner.
Layer the circles together and then use your glue gun to attach the top edge of each circle to the next. Try to only have one overlap between circles towards the edge of the piece (where the hoop will be fitted) - if you make the layers too thick you'll struggle to fit the embroidery hoop on top.
Place the inside ring of your embroidery hoop in front of you, then lay the felt circle sheet on top. Place your string across the width of the felt, towards the top of the hoop. Press the outer ring of the embroidery hoop over the felt, string and inner ring to secure it in place. It may be a tight squeeze so be gentle and take your time here!
Neatly trim the excess felt and string around the back edge of the embroidery hoop.
Fix your pegs to the note line and add a piece of string or twine to the top of the hoop for hanging.
Finish with your own handwritten notes on paper or card.
I hope you've enjoyed this make for day three of #SixDaysOfFeltScraps. Join me tomorrow for something floral!
